The Romanian National Symphony Orchestra assembles the brightest musicians from Romania for a unique creative experience, in the common pursuit of musical excellence.
 

Touring regularly at leading venues throughout Europe, it has earned a reputation for delivering performances at the highest level characterized by virtuosity, abandon, joy and drama. The orchestra’s concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum and the George Enescu International Festival are regularly sold out and international tours have brought them to Vienna Konzerthaus, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Berlin Konzerthaus, Auditorium Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Gustav Mahler International Festival, Ravello International Festival, Grande Theatre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, BOZAR Brussels, Istanbul, Salzburg and Linz. Forthcoming tours will see them perform in France including for their debut at the Philharmonie de Paris and to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and Austria.

 

In 2019, the Romanian National Symphony Orchestra will honor the 100th anniversary of the unification of Romania in their first-ever tour to the United States, led by renowned conductor Cristian Măcelaru. 

 

The Romanian National Symphony Orchestra's roots lay in a unique artistic and educational program, which was founded in 2008 was founded in 2008 at the initiative of Artistic Director and cellist Marin Cazacu, with the help of “The Friends of Music – Serafim Antropov” foundation and the Ministry of Culture.

 

The orchestra’s academic program strives to offer young musicians the opportunity to explore demanding repertoire through master classes and concerts, and more importantly, to participate in the joy of music-making under esteemed conductors such as Cristian Mandeal, Michael Sanderling, Lawrence Foster, Gabriel Bebeșelea, Kristjan Järvi, Domingo Hindoyan and Cristian Măcelaru and with leading soloists including Radu Lupu, Pinchas Zukerman, Sarah Chang, David Garrett, Nobuyuki Tsujii, Elizabeth Leonskaja and Andrei Ionita.

 

In 2013 the Orchestra released their first CD - "Romanian classical treasures" - with works by Enescu, Bartok, Silvestri, Rogalski, Dumitrescu and Dinicu. In 2014 the Orchestra released their second CD - "Trans-European Express" - with works by Dvorak, Brahms, Grieg, Faure, Ravel, Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Khachaturian and Pautza. In 2016 the orchestra's third CD "Lauda Concertata" with works by Emamanuel Sejourne and Akira Ifukube was released under the Genuin lebel.

 

The Orchestra is considered "the jewel of Romanian musical life" and one of the most successful musical projects in the last 30 years.
