Karin Scholz is native of Berlin and started playing the violin at the age of 5. She studied with Werner Scholz and Igor Ozim in Bern and Berlin. In 1990 she won the 1st prize of the International Music Competition Japan and in 1992 the Kulenkampff Violin Competition Cologne. In the aftermath of her competition successes she was invited by numerous orchestras such as Dresdner Philharmonie, MDR-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Radio-Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Prague Philharmonia, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. She worked with conductors such as Gerd Albrecht, Lukasz Borowicz, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Jurowski, Alexander Lazarew, Hannu Lintu, Eiji Oue, Michael Sanderling and Ulf Schirmer.

Since 1998 Katrin Scholz has been artistic director of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra she‘s been touring with throughout Europe, the USA and Japan.

Katrin Scholz is also a committed teacher. Since 1998 she has been professor at the University of the Arts Bremen.

Katrin Scholz has made several CD recordings for Berlin Classics and JVC with concerts by Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Haydn and Mozart.

In future engagements Katrin Scholz will appear with the Stuttgart Philharmonic and Orquestra Sinfonica de Galicia. She will furthermore tour with Berlin Chamber Orchestra to Spain, Poland, Slovenia and South America.
